IS IT LOVE?

IS IT LOVE?

The Seventh-day Adventist youth of Las Pinas district came together in one place to celebrate and learn about true love. This event happened on February 13, 2011 at T.S. Cruz Church.  All Adventist churches from Las Pinas had representatives to this district-wide  love banquet.  The churches are CAA, Bethel (Pamplona), Pilar (Las Pinas), T.S. Cruz, and Timog Company Church.  The program theme is "IS IT LOVE?" headed by the District Pastor Jonel Fofue.  The program started at 7:30 p.m. by the emcees Mr. Rae Gel Rivera of CAA Church and Ms. Sherie Ann Secreto of T.S. Cruz Church.

The emcees welcomed all the couples and singles who came and joined the said event.  They also paired all the single ladies and gentlemen by finding the other half piece of their heart shape paper in their hand. And after that,  the opening prayer was led by Bro. Robert Mendoza of Bethel Church. The special song number by the district Pastor and officers was next. The title of their song is "The best love for the Lord". The song was meaningful and full of emotions because it's talking about the love for God that means giving all of what a person has even himself, his everything, all to God.  Pastor Salo gave a message by explaining and defining what the true love means.  He pointed out the text from 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8 NIV saying "4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away."  He gave stories also about love that would enhance the knowledge and values of individuals.

The banquet meal was served after his message.  While they were eating the catered meal with 3 viands and dessert, intermission number was given by Pastor Fofue and Ms. Sherie Ann Secreto. Their song is about comparing the courtship style of today's generation and the old.  The game which called "Kissing in the dark" was next.  It's about the boy being blinded by a handkerchief and will listen to the direction given by his partner until he kissed the exact target on the board. The winners were two couples from Bethel Church.  An Intermission number by Ms. Midan Jean Trebucias of CAA Church was rendered and followed by the Special Skit about Courtship and Marriage Proposal by Mr. Edgardo Gubatanga and Ma. May Sosmena of CAA Church.  Another game was played and this time it's Boys vs. Girls. In the sentence "Is it love?", they will answer the emcees questions only by using the letters from that sentence. The girls won by score of 14-8. Ms. Lovely Caroro,  rendered a special song about love. She gave also advises and reflections about it. Closing remarks was given by Ms. Eden Elisan, the president of Youth District,  with Pastor Jonel.  The closing songs were Forever Friends and Side by Side. And the program closes with the prayer of Pastor Honevic Cadiz. To see the whole program visit www.youtube.com/raegel.
