Former Defense Secretary Angelo Reyes died of a gunshot wound at the age of 66 years old. He was the Secretary of National Defense of the Philippines from the year 2001 to 2003 and was the Secretary of the Department of Energy under former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. He was accused as one of being the most corrupt chiefs into the Garcia plea bargain deal which showed up in Public early this year about receiving 50 Million Philippine Pesos as send-off money.
Early morning of February 8, 2011, Angelo Reyes visited her mother's tomb in Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina City with his kids and aides. He said to them to leave him at the tomb and then the shot was heard. He was brought to Quirino Hospital at 7:30 a.m. with a wound in his chest and no vital signs. The doctor pronounced him dead after 45 minutes of resuscitation at 8:32 a.m.
May he rest in peace and I still wonder why he did it?
